Set the Genie Free

Adream is a wish your heart makes, when your fast asleep. In dreams you will lose your heart aches, whatever you wish for come true. Have faith and believe that someday, your rainbow will come shining thru. No matter how your heart is bleeding, if you keep on believing, a dream that you wish for come true.

I have wished for a lot of things, sadly I don’t think any of them came true. Regrets ? No, I am a person who believe that things happen for a reason, that there are no coincidences. What happens to us are results of our actions. One can not perform a task & deem that there are no consequences. The secret is in believing no matter how terrible things may be, it all happened for a good reason. 

There are moments in my solitude that I turn back the hands of time. I look back and think to myself, would it have been better if only I did this instead of this ? But No, if a genie would grant me 3 wishes, none of the wishes would be to go back and change the past. The past is done & over with, what matters is the future, my daughter’s future.  

I would never want to alter anything in my past because I would never want not to have my daughter Benz. I love her so much. She means the world to me. I was so afraid to have a child, I was afraid that I might not be able to take good care of her. I was afraid that because we were poor that we will not be able to give her a good life, a life that she deserves. She’s turning 8 years old this September, and I am a proud mom of a beautiful, smart, loving young girl. Like the song says, “ I must have done something good” because the kind Lord had blessed me with such a wonderful child. 

So 3 wishes, the genie might get impatient. I’ve watched too many horror & sci fi flicks that the 3 wishes scares me, “ nothing comes for free” – this is from Once Upon a Time, a cable series of Snow White’s Life but hey ! that’s magic, magic doesn’t come for free. These are wishes, a whole lot of difference between them. 

1^st wish then, I wish to be eternally lucky, 2^nd wish for my whole family to be healthy & perpetually sick free, 3^rd wish – of course to set the genie free !

PORK BARREL - Corrupt Government Officials - Bogus NGOs - Life of Luxury

The past few days have been good. I can’t say the same for our provinces because the cool weather here in the metro was a calamity in their area. Most of the provinces suffered devastations beyond recognitions, Schools & churches blown to pieces. Houses submerged in mud. There was even a difficulty in passage in some areas cause roads were washed away if not steep in land slide. We hope that our government officials will help our less fortunate countrymen instead of pocketing the funds allocated for them. It’s all over the news now that RELIEF FUNDS for the 2007 - 2009 calamity victims didn’t get to where their supposed to go. Shame on you ! People are starving out there, they are cold & sick. Children are not going to school. You and your fabulous houses, your luxury cars ! Remove PORK BARREL ! Let’s see if they will all run for office in the SENATE & congress. People are running not to serve, they are running to get rich ! 

Ok, that got my blood boiling hahaha I just can’t help it. My family & I are one of those hard working folks who does more than an 8 to 5 jobs just to have a slice of the good life. The government gets a hefty share in our basic salaries leaving us a meager amount to get by. Then, where does all this tax money go, to their fabulous lifestyles. If you want to get rich, join politics. But wait . . .  there’s another way to get rich it seems, be a recipient !

The much celebrated wanted persons now by NBI, the devious siblings now missing & couldn’t be found. Hah ! Why am I not surprised ? It’s always the same story, accusation – refutation – escape from arrest. Villains laughing at the face of authorities.

THE BOX . . . would you press the button ?

At first I really resented what a local channel has done. They dubbed all movies into tagalong (Pilipino dialect) It sounded wrong, & it felt fake. But then, almost a year without cable can change your perspective.

Every day at 3:15pm is movie time. At times they’d show really awesome movies, & most of the time I think it’s movies nobody even bothered to watch LOL . Well, yesterday was a find. It was titled THE BOX, starring a very young & still sexy ( not skinny to the bones)  Cameron Diaz & “Cyclops” - James Marsden . I have seen this guy in a couple of movies but sad to say I don’t remember his name, so I had to look it up just to complete my intro. He’s also the prince charming in the movie “Enchanted”. 

What would you do if somebody gave you a box? This box has a button. You & your spouse will have 24 hours to think on whether you would push the button in that box. Why ? Because once you push that button, somebody you DON’T know will die. In return you will get ONE MILLION DOLLARS in cash. 

Quite a predicament huh? Well the movie really started out interesting, then it went confusing. To tell you honestly until now, I don’t get it. It seems like an alien related movie. I don’t know if it’s because it was dubbed that it didn’t make much sense or it’s the story line itself. But in a nutshell, in the end, even if you got the money, something will screw you up that the spouse who didn’t push the button will have to chose between his wife or his son. In the case of this movie, it was always the wife who pushed the button. You will have to shoot your wife dead so that your son will be miraculously healed from being blind & deaf. The kids are normal happy kids, then they will be abducted & returned to their parents deaf & blind thus causing the choosing. 

All of the husbands chose to shoot the wife for their child. For that they will be imprisoned, & the child left in the care of someone from the “organization” who promises to care good care of them. The one million will be placed in a trust fund which he will be able to receive once he reaches 18. The organization is NSA involved with Human Resource Exploitation. Confused? Well, I am.

My only solution to this enigma is to look for the movie & watch it in English hahaha maybe then I’d really get the story right. It’s a good watch, Why ? Because it will make you wonder, WOULD YOU PRESS THE BUTTON ?  

My Husband's Lover

Men are such chauvinist pigs. Let them be the one to fool around & they’d give you “boys will be boys”. Let the woman fool around & she’s a tramp. Well that’s how my husband sees things. Corny as it sounds but we have been watching this soap opera involving a philandering husband, when the wife finally caught him, he asks forgiveness & a chance to start over. Easy for him to say, he wasn’t the one cheated on. So when the wife finds it hard to move on, forget & start all over, she finds solace in a stranger. Why a stranger ? Because she can’t tell anybody that her husband was cheating on her with another man, yes he’s gay. Despite her pains, she can’t tell her or his family the painful truth, she still protects the man that she loves. 

So why can’t she forgive him & move on ? Simply because he can’t answer her question – did he ever really loved her ? Hey how would you feel if in the climax of your love making your husband blurts out “ I love you ___ “ not your name of course. Then later you find out that that name belongs to a man. As if that wasn’t enough, he even gives the admission that he’s been gay since high school, and that they’ve been lovers since - too much information ! Wouldn’t that be enough to doubt even  10 years of blissful marriage ? Not to mention 2 kids coming out of it. What an enigma huh ?

Let’s get back to the question at hand then, considering the possibility that he never loved her, that every tender moments was a success because he was thinking of another man, that 10 years of marriage was happy before she caught him – should she forget everything for the sake of your children ? 

Yes she should. I know, I know, easy for me to say cause I’m not in her shoes. But look at it this way, since the marriage can no longer work, they should just have a compromise, be friends. He’s the only son of a wealthy family, her kids are the sole heirs. She came from a humble family, her 10 years of marriage was a life in the lap of luxury, all the good things life can offer. Not bad right ? The marriage may be a sham, but atleast it’s a sham in style. Just think of the others not as fortunate, those who have a philandering ass for a husband, & their hungry. 

Ooops I lost track, let’s get back to men being chauvinist pigs. The wife finds solace in a stranger – my husband’s comment “SHE’S JUST LOOKING FOR A REASON TO FOOL AROUND”, hello ! she was the perfect wife, takes care of the husband & kids, a stay at home type, a soccer mom. Socializing is going to the grocery with her best friend. Weekends are family excursions. So, looking for a reason to fool around ? I don’t think so. She just needed somebody to talk to or else she’d explode, it just so happens that he’s a male. 

Prejudice !

Gone too soon

Why is it that when things are finally running smoothly that it all start to turns sour - again ? 

We’ve hit rock bottom. The head of the family is jobless since December 2012. Our daughter wasn’t able to go back to school last June 2013. On a daily basis, money for food & everything else is scarce, if not totally nonexistent. It’s been like this for months. There have been numerous job interviews for the hubby, but none triumphant. Then last June we hit a lucky break, an odd job that pays more than run of the mill. A once a week gig to provide fairly enough for our daughter’s needs & a few of our own. This was like hitting the jackpot for us considering we’ve had next to nothing for months. Besides this blessing of a miracle, we have been in good relations with in laws both mine & his. The meager amount we have was multiplied by the sharing we received. Then . . . just like in the movies, when everything is running smoothly it’s as if something bad is bound to happen. 2 words, Money Woes. 

I don’t really want to get to the minute detail of the turn of events that lead to my broken happiness so let’s just say that when it finally came down to it, people will shy away from you because you need money. The once happy and flourishing connection will now turn sour both ways. The affluent party in doubt that you could recompense the obligation would more than willingly turn you down. And the destitute party, which sadly in this case is us, feels forsaken. 

So now, the dire need is there & unanswered. The harmonious rapport amongst kin departed. The affluent relieved of obligation to aid, & the destitute loss, near hopeless. It was a happy month that passed & ended all too soon. I’m so sad.
